Nice post/article, even if I am finding it ~ 9 months late. For some reason it made me think of these words from John Lennon's song "Watching the wheels", which is one of my all time favorite songs. The last of line is particularly on-point:

Well, they shake their heads

And they look at me as if I've lost my mind

I tell them there's no hurry

I'm just sittin' here doin' time

Of course, John Lennon had the advantage of having millions of dollars in assets and a steady income stream from Beatles + solo career royalties, so he didn't have to worry about being laid off or evicted or where his next meal was coming from (although he did have other things to be worried about, as that ass with the gun and the hollow point bullets proved not long after this song was released).

Anyway, thank you for all of your writing. This was the first one I read, and it was very good. So many phrases that made me think "Yes, that is exactly how it is. Very nicely expressed!".
